A climbing trip to Vicarage Rocks on the North Coast of Cornwall, just over the border!
Before contemplating a trip to this location check the tide times, the best climbing is only accessible at low tide.
Leave the car by the tearooms and take the track through the gate and follow this to join the coastal path, head left looking for the steep descent path to take you down on to the pebble beach. The rock spur runs out at the further end of this small bay.
Using a climbers guide a number of routes were set up led by Sherpa Demmar who set top ropes for the rest of the group to play.
As the tide receded we ventured further out as the routes became accessible.
The location is secluded and offers a range of graded routes, having picked a day of fine weather the experience was all the more rewarding.
When beaten back by the rising tide our retreat foundered at the teashop where our resolve crumbled (unlike the rock) for earl grey and cake.
'More tea Vicar?'
A great day, hurrah!
